The set up: This episode starts off with ever crazy Capitan Ugarte holding a very pregnant Almudena and threatening Cesar that he will kill her. When Cesar comes out to negotiate her release, Ugarte tells his Lieutenant to control Cesar, so that Ugarte can force Cesar to watch Almudena die. The Lieutenant saves Almudena and demands the arrest of Ugarte. However, it the Lieutenant who gets arrested. Ugarte then demands the complete destruction of the town.
Ep 8/Cap 21. Tierra quemada (Scorched Earth)
Chaos
1:01:30 - The town is on fire and the soldiers are killing everyone in their path. Cut to the brothel. Roman Bravo, Aníbal, Nieves, Elena, Cristina, Rosario, and a few of the other prostitutes are hiding in the brothel. You can here the sounds of screaming and gunfire outside. They know they need to leave but don't have anywhere else to hide. Rosario decides to stay, stating that the soldiers have nothing against the girls and they will be safe their. Cristina states that they should leave. Aníbal leaves his rifle with Rosario and takes the group that wants to leave. Isabel wonders into the town square and sees the destruction. She takes off at a run towards the brothel and Cristina.
Rosario: Calm down. Don't worry, they won't harm us. We have no sides, we're just whores.
{Isabel bursts through the doors and Cristina goes to her.}
Cristina: What are you doing here?!
Isabel: We gotta go, they're gonna burn all this down. Come on!
Cristina: No. Leave me. I'm staying with Rosario.
Isabel: I won't leave you here!
Cristina: No, Isabel, stop! You don't know what I've done. Sebastian didn't catch us by chance. I asked him to! I wanted to get back at
your father. I was his regular girl. He left me. And you came along. !SLAP! I'm sorry. I didn't know I could fall
in love with you.
Isabel: {trying not to be affected by the plea in Cristina's eyes} I never should've forgotten that you're a whore.
Isabel marches to Casa Herminia (the local bar) with purpose. She walks in to find Sebastian reclining at one of the table.
Sebastian: {spinning a gold coin he got for betraying his mother} Look. Do you like it?
Isabel: I know everything. Cristina told me.
Sebastian: What a whore, huh? First with the father...then with the daughter. Relax. She didn't fall in love with him. {he caresses her face with his finger, looking like he's about to kiss her.} You don't know how much we've laughed at you.
Isabel: {she puts her hand on the back of his neck and moves in and knee's him the balls! She then unleashes a massive can a WHOOP-ASS on him. She pushes
him on the floor and starts whipping him with every ounce of anger she has until he yells for her to stop.
The anger spent, she walks out with tears her in eyes.}
53:00 in- There's a knock on the door and the demand to open for the army. One of the prostitutes [Ines] pulls a small revolver and tries to convince Rosario to leave.
Rosario: I'm sorry. I really thought they wouldn't come in here. {the knocking continues and there is another demand to open up} Alright...get out. I'll cover you. {no one leaves} Come on! What are you waiting for!?! Come on! I got you into this, and I'll get you out. Go! {They all leave, but Cristina stays behind.}
Cristina: I will not leave you here, let's go! Let's go.
Rosario: Save yourself Cristina, run.
Cristina: but they will kill you.
Rosario: Could be, but it will be worth it. I'm going to save my girls.
{Cristina smiles} Go. Run.
As Cristina turns to leave the door is broken down. Rosario shoots and kills the first soldier, but as she turns to yell at Cristina she is shot by a second soldier. Cristina runs back to her yelling her name. When she runs back out she is stopped by a soldier pointing a rifle at her. The other soldier says he'll "take care of her."
Soldier: {puts the gun against her face} Shhh... relax... there's enough for you too. !BANG! {out of nowhere Isabel shoots him in the back and Cristina runs to her}
Isabel: Let's go. {Isabel grabs her hand and leads her away as she looks back at Rosario laying on the floor.}
Cristina and Isabel show up at Casa Grande, which is being used as a last refuge by the entire the town. The military is surrounding the house. Isabel grabs a rifle and heads upstairs to defend her home.
